Lead

A named person, a set number of days a month, and a written exit from month one.

Retained leadership for a function you cannot yet fund full-time. The role is documented as it runs, so you can hire into it. See how retained work runs →

The lines

7 service lines in Lead.

Buy one on its own, or take several inside a package. Every line ends in something written down that your team can run without us.

The model

Four things you get, and one you can leave with.

This is how retained work runs with us. It does not claim results for it — the proof sits under the programmes we have delivered, and you should read those before you buy a person.

The shape

Two, four, eight or twelve days a month.

Which one you need depends on whether the role is advising, running or building.

2

days a month — a sounding board, a monthly review, decisions unblocked

4

days a month — a function held, with someone else executing

8

days a month — the function run, hiring and vendors included

12

days a month — building the function from nothing, hands on the work

Scoping comes first, it is free, and it arrives inside two business days.

Fit

Who this is for — and who it is not.

Retained leadership suits you if you are an SME or an early-stage company that needs a function held before you can fund it, an enterprise team that needs senior capacity without a headcount request, a protocol or foundation that needs a role owned between funding rounds, or a brand that needs a standard kept while you recruit.

Universities and Ministries are not buyers here. A university appoints into its own structure and a ministry procures a defined engagement at a time; neither can take a person on a monthly retainer from an agency, and pretending otherwise would waste your procurement cycle. If you sit in either, the advisory and programme lines are the ones to read.
